- The Magnum tee needs no description.

No One Left (White… M-2XL) – $28

- There are injustices in this world that are witnessed by some who do not feel that we should get involved. Whether restrained by fear of reprisal, a misguided justification to not get involved or simple apathy to another’s plight, a lack of compassion and concern for others erodes the protection communities provide against the oppression and violence.

The words are based around the structure of a poem spoken by German Pastor Martin Niemöller after WWII had ended, criticising the apathy of those who sat back and watched the Nazis exterminate different groups. We used a different set of subjects that reflects, a bit more accurately, the realities of today.

The text:
“When they came for the protesters, I was there, but I didn’t like to march, so I did nothing.
When they came for the activists, I heard them, but I didn’t agree with their cause, so I did nothing.

Then they came for me, and I screamed for help, but there was no one left to fight for me.”

Point is, don’t let differences between you and others overshadow the humanity that you both share. When you stand up for others, you stand up for yourself.

Can’t Fool the Youth (White… M-2XL) – $28

- Do you remember what you were doing when you were 12? Running around acting like fools thinking you had it all figured out? Some aren’t so lucky to have had a choice in the matter. Drawn into the conflicts of their elders, or stolen from their parents and indoctrinated into a life of violence, they are made to believe whatever is beneficial to the leaders of the conflicts. You see the same thing with kids being sucked into gang culture, and yet, surprisingly you’ll be hard pressed to find as much sympathy for a 12 year old with a TEC 9 in LA being tried as an adult as you would for a kid with an AK47 in Uganda or Nicaragua. It’s easier for people to be sympathetic if its not happening near them and that’s BS.

The phrase is meant to be a sarcastic jab at the notion that crimes of the youth are always fully understood by those that commit them, and if you’re going to pity one, and condemn the other, you’re a hypocrite.

Chopped (Heather Grey… M-2XL) – $28

- We’ve long been inspired by car club jackets from the 50’s and 60’s and the agressive, slightly offbeat and humorous logos that were the source of pride for each club.

With enough work and time anyone could pick up an old junk car and transform it into a piece of art. It allowed the people who didn’t have much to be able to stand on even ground with the lawyer down the street because nothing mattered but how cool your car was. The only thing holding anyone back was how much dedication they were willing to put into their sled, rod or custom.

The hurdles of social class fell when someone put on their club’s jacket and cruised their car down the bouldevard. It’s the same thing with skateboarding or graffiti. You put your hard work out there and no one can judge you on anything but that.

Capitalist Pigs (Black/White… M-2XL) – $36

- With all that’s going on with corporations lately, it’s become pretty fashionable to bash anyone out there looking to make a buck (we see you, anarchists!). And we get it, we really do. Globalization is the New World Order, and the International Monetary Fund is raping poor countries blind. Wall Street manipulated the market to make quick returns on their investments while the rest of us got screwed when their actions finally crashed the economy. BP skirted safety regulations to save money and we all know what happened next.

But you know what?

Capitalism only becomes evil when it decides to place profit over the well-being of people. There’s nothing greater than someone making honest money doing what they love – and we’ll rep that till the day we die.

“Back in the day, if you wanted to send a message, you stuck a motherfucker’s head on a stick. People just don’t do it like that anymore. Sure you get beheadings here and there, but where’s the flash?”

RIOT SQUAD tee – $30

“People will find plenty of reasons to form a little protest here and there, and that’s great. Let ‘em know why you mad. But there are people around the world who are taking to the streets because their very rights are being threatened by their government. Facing beatings, arrest, torture or even death, they risk all this simply to have the chance for their voice to be heard.

Unless you’ve been under a rock lately (we wouldn’t blame you), the people of Iran have been doing just that and using camera phones and the internet to circumvent their government’s media control. A young college student named Neda, attending the protests with her teacher, was shot in cold blood by the pro-government militia while an onlooker filmed the event. The video circulated around the world within hours and her death became a battle cry for the throngs of protesters that refused to back down from their oppressive government.

Tee features “RIP NEDA” on the sleeve, and a green colorway in support of the protesters.”

“You know those old black and white movies where you’d have an opening scene and all of a sudden a super bright title would zoom in and blind the shit out of you? That was kind of the inspiration behind the aesthetic here. The photo however, is from a miner’s strike in the UK where they were protesting unsafe working conditions and low wages.

Of course you know how those always end up. The rozzers (cops) came to crash the party in the style they know best.”

“There really isn’t much we can say about this. No matter how many times we reprint this tee, no matter what color it is, it sells out. There’s something to be said about a strong message represented in a simple way.”

2. Who is “them” in Us Versus Them?

When we first came up with the name it wasn’t really directed a specific target.  It really was more of a positive attitude we had about our confidence in ourselves in the face of all that stood in our way to becoming successful. We wanted to spread our gospel of supporting independent business. To promote pride in being an outsider creating your own path.

Subcultures that had previously been built up by independent artists, businesses and early adopters were (and always are) being mined for inspiration and profit by corporate businesses, who rarely ever contributed culturally (only financially) to the scenes they profited from.  We saw a problem with that because the smaller companies and artists basically took a lump of coal and turned it into a diamond, only to have a giant corporation come in, throw out some sponsorships while it steals that diamond, never to return it.

As we started building the line aesthetically, I wanted to use the platform to expand the messages, bringing attention to social injustice, hypocrisy in leadership (cultural, moral and civic) and other forms of conflict.  So in that respect, “Them” became pretty much any person or organization that desired to control and manipulate through less than honerable means.  Be it a specific event, like the Kent State shootings which we used for a tee a couple years ago, or a message – our “No One Left” tee in the upcoming summer release touched on public apathy in the face of injustice – we want to remind people that they have the ability to positively affect the lives of others as long as they stay awake and aware of whats going on in the world.

As we move forward, I want to build off of that positivity and push the idea that you can always better yourself and your position in the face of any adversity and any adversary.  Ultimately I hope our tees will inspire confidence in those who need it and motivate those who concern for the welfare of others to get to work helping them.

3. What inspires you?

Those who create something out of nothing.  Those who can endure hardship and harness that experience into a positive direction. Self-confidence. The infinite complexity of Nature.  Being a father.  The never ending cycle of creation and decay.  Human emotions. Conflict & ethics.  Absurdity.  Logic & reason. Living simply.  Classic and functional design.  All music from all cultures.  Buying things that are built to last not built to be cheap.  HAVING FUN AND MAKING A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE.

4. Do you give a hoot?

Maybe too much. Ha.

5. Isn’t it easier to fool youth than adults?

All humans can be mislead, but the youth have the natural urge to question and rebel on their side.  As you grow older and take on more “responsibilities” and more stress, people forget to question the truth, because it is easier for them to live life with blinders on and let the media think for them.
